The apparatus has a control CPU which determines a proper exposure value by selecting one of a plurality of exposure correction values on the basis of the detected voltage on a main flash capacitor C1. A pulse generating circuit TR3, TR4, Ne, C3 generates a pulse RLS having a width which is dependent on the voltage on the capacitor C1, and the CPU measures the pulse width to select the exposure correction value is correspondence therewith.
