PURPOSE:To easily produce a high-molecular-weight polyarylene sulfide at a high economic efficiency without using any expensive polymerization aid. CONSTITUTION:In the method for producing polyarylene sulfide by reacting an alkali metal sulfide with a dihaloaromatic compound in an organic amide solvent, a dihalaromatic nitro compound is added as an additional reactional reactant and the vapor phase in the reactor is cooled to partly condense it, the condensate being refluxed to the liquid phase. |
