PURPOSE:To provide an economically excellent and simple method for producing a high-molecular weight polyarylene sulfide(PAS) without requiring an expensive polymerization assistant. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing a high-molecular weight polyarylen sulfide is to further react an active hydrogen-containing dihalogen aromatic compound with an alkali metallic sulfide and dihalo-aromatic compound in an organic amide-based solvent in a reactional vessel, cool the vapor phase part in the reactional vessel, thereby condense a part of the vapor phase in the reactional vessel and reflux the resultant condensate to the liquid phase in a method for reacting the alkali metallic sulfide with the dihalo-aromatic compound in the organic amide-based solvent and producing the polyarylene sulfide. |
