MAGNESIA SPINEL CEMENT HAVING HIGH DURABILITY AND REFRACTORY FOR LIME-BURNING KILN

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnesia spinel brick having improved abrasion resistance absolutely without deteriorating the excellent spalling resistance of magnesia spinel brick. CONSTITUTION:This magnesia spinel refractory is produced by compounding an MgO-Al2O3 spinel clinker with a magnesia clinker containing >=20wt.% of sintered magnesia clinker having a bulk specific gravity of 3.20-3.37. The Al2O3 content of the brick is preferably 8-22wt.%. The high-temperature strength can be increased to improve the abrasion resistance without sacrificing the other physical properties simply by using a magnesia clinker having a prescribed bulk specific gravity. The purpose can be achieved simply by changing the grade of the magnesia clinker and the change in the condition of operation such as kneading is not necessary in the preparation of the clinker.
