PURPOSE:To obtain a cephem compound effective for treating infectious diseases and having broad antibacterial spectra against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and excellent antibacterial activity by reacting a specific cephem compound with a carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective cephem compound of the formula I [R1 is (protected)amino; Q is N or C-R2 (R2 is H or halogen); R3 is H or (substituted) hydrocarbon; A is (substituted)triazolothiadiazolyl or imidazothiadiazolyl], e.g. 7beta-[2-(2-aminothizol-4-yl)-2(Z)-methoxyiminoacetamido]-3-[imidazo[2,1- b][1,3,4]thiadiazol-2-yl]thiomethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid sodium salt, etc., is obtained by reacting a cephem compound of the formula II, its salt or its ester with a carboxylic acid of the formula III, its salt or its reactive derivative. |
