PURPOSE:To provide a break ring for horizontal type continuous casting which has excellent resistance for the separation at corner parts during the setting operation and the groove-shaped wears during the casting operation and which is excellent in economy. CONSTITUTION:Addition of glass increases the strength while the hardness being suppressed from the increase compared to the strength, and a material which is excellently balanced between the strength and the hardness. A break ring consists of a material having high erosion resistance for the molten steel having a composition consisting of >=20wt.%, preferably >=40wt.% BN, preferably >=2wt.% glass, and the balance SiAlON, AlN, Al2O3, ZrO2, MgO, CaO or the like. |
