A string of elastic sleeves, which are attached to one another by tear lines, is fed over a set of prongs 924). The prongs are mounted on bridge pieces (23) which are moved out by screw spindles (19). When the sleeve is expanded, it is at the same time torn from the string. An object holder is mounted above the frame with the spreading prongs and can be moved axially towards the expanded sleeve and inserted in it, after which object with sleeve are pulled away from the prongs.
