The invention concerns a wall element (10) for a protective device surrounding an operating or working area and protecting against laser beams from a laser source (38), such as a booth, wall or screen. The wall element (10) has an inner wall (12), that is adjacent the operating area, and an outer wall (14) that is parallel with the inner wall (12) and is further away from the operating area than said inner wall (12). According to the invention, in order to activate an emergency stop device which deactivates the laser source or processing device, the inner wall (12) and the outer wall (14) consist of metal, for example sheet iron or sheet steel, the inner wall (12) being provided at least on the face (18) facing the operating area with a coating (16) with a high absorption capacity and the face (22) of the outer wall (14) facing the inner wall (12) having a lower absorption capacity. |
