Filter element and fabrication method for the same

A method of fabricating a filter element comprises the step of drawing a slurry (100) through an inner mold (133) of a suction unit (13) immersed in a tank (11) to stack fibers suspended within said slurry on a surface of the inner mold to form a molded body (160), wherein the inner mold has a predetermined opening ratio. In the method the inner mold is used as a reference to hold and position the molded body during subsequent fabrication steps. The filter element comprises an inner mold (133) used to draw the slurry (100) of fibers therethrough and to stack said fibers thereon, and a molded body (160) formed by said stacked fibers, wherein the molded body is kept integrally with said inner mold.
