PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially and advantageously producing a diaryl carbonate in a simple process by using a dialkyl carbonate containing an alkyl alcohol and a phenolic compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing a diaryl carbonate comprises (i) a step of feeding a raw material mixture liquid to the lower part of a distilling section of a first reactive distillation column, (ii) a step of feeding a phenolic compound to the upper part of the distilling section, (iii) a step of carrying out a distillation while bringing the mixture liquid into contact with the phenolic compound in the distilling section under pressure, (iv) a step of conducting a transesterification in the presence of a catalyst in a reactional section in the lowermost part of the distillation column and producing an alkyl aryl carbonate, (v) a step of taking out a part of an alkyl alcohol and an unreacted dialkyl carbonate from the vicinity of the top of the distilling section of the first reactive distillation column, (vi) a step of taking out a reactional liquid from the reactional section of the first distillation column, (vii) a step of feeding the reactional liquid to a reactional part located in the lowermost part of a second reactive distillation column and (viii) a step of producing the diaryl carbonate by a disproportionating reaction in the reactional part. |
