PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform periodic data transmission while placing an IEEE1394 bus in a power-saving state. SOLUTION: While the IEEE1394 bus I/Fs 12 and 22 of devices 1 and 2 are turned on, a time setting request is sent from the device 2 to the device 1. The device 1 receives the request and requests a timer part 17 to set time from a device control part 10, and the timer part 17 sets the time when the power source of the bus I/F 12 is turned off and sets the time when turned off. At the set OFF time or ON time, the timer part 17 informs the device control part 10 of that. The device control part 10 once informed instructs a power source control part 19 to power ON or OFF the bus I/F 12, and the power source control part 19 performs ON/OFF control over the power source of the bus I/F 12 according to the instruction.
