PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the track width and the magnetic path length of an induction type magnetic conversion element and to prevent the saturation of magnetic fluxes in the middle of the magnetic path. SOLUTION: The recording head is provided with a lower magnetic pole layer 8 and upper magnetic pole layer which contain a magnetic pole part oppositely facing each other through a recording gap layer 9, and with a thin film coil 16. The upper magnetic pole layer has a first pole part layer 10a, a second pole part layer 10b and a yoke part layer 18. In the area between the part not in contact with the other surface of the first pole part layer 10a, in one of the surfaces of the second pole part layer 10b, and the recording gap layer 9, an insulating layer 12 is stored that is for regulating a throat height. In addition, a coil storing part is formed in the manner extending over the lower 8 and the upper magnetic pole layer side beyond the recording gap layer 9, with the thin film coil 16 stored in this coil storing part.
