PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remotely monitor the quantity of liquid in a reservoir with a simple constitution where high-grade computer equipment is made unnecessary. SOLUTION: A monitor signal transmission means 7 which is connected to a reservoir-side telephone set 5 so as to be interposed between a line exchange 6 and the reservoir-side telephone set connects a line to a telephone set 4 with automatic answering function, where information to specify the monitor signal transmission means 7 to which the line connected, namely, a reservoir 2 where the quantity of liquid has reached a prescribed value is stored, in response to the output of a detection signal from a liquid quantity detector 8 which is outputted in accordance with arrival of the quantity of liquid at the prescribed value, and the monitor signal transmission means 7 releases line connection to the telephone set 4 with automatic answering function in accordance with transmission of a confirmation signal from the telephone set 4 with automatic answering function to the monitor signal transmission means 7 which has been set to the line connection state.
