PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display device capable of clear multigradation color display and to provide an electric appliance having it. SOLUTION: In this EL display device, gradation display is executed by a time division drive method controlling luminescence/nonluminescence of an EL display element 109 provided in a pixel 104 by time to prevent influence by unevenness in a characteristic of a current controlling TFT(Thin Film Transistor) 108. When using the time division drive method, a data signal side drive circuit 102 and a gate signal side drive circuit 103 are respectively configured by TFTs each having an extremely rapid operation speed and using a semiconductor film having an active layer showing an electron beam diffraction image corresponding to [110] orientation.
