PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement quick and highly reliable interconnection by arranging first and second sheets for simultaneous connection with dies and their related leads utilizing connectors, and by electrically connecting the dies and their related leads using the respective connectors. SOLUTION: A surface-mounted LED 22 has a first lead 24 and a second lead 26. The lead 24 is provided with a recess 28, and its surface functions as a reflector. The recess 28 is generally known in the art as a reflecting cup 28. An LED die 30 is arranged in the cup 28. A first electrode of the die 30 is electrically attached to the bottom of the cup 28. A second electrode of the die 30 is connected to the lead 26 via a conductive interconnection strip, i.e., a connector 32. The strip 32 and part of the leads 24 and 26 are sealed within a transparent or translucent resin 24. |
