PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate picture quality rightly as visually felt roughness, namely, graininess of an image concerning an areas having a certain fixed image density when the digital image is measured with a Macbeth illuminometer or the like by making the result of physical evaluation for evaluating the graininess of the digital image close to the result of mental evaluation. SOLUTION: A print means 2 prepares the hard copy of an image processed by a personal computer 1 and outputs an image evaluation sample 3 and the image density thereof is measured by a micro densitometer 4. A fine spot radiating means 5 irradiates an image reading area 7 of the image evaluation sample 3 from the micro densitometer 4 with a fine spot 6. An image information input means 8 inputs a micro density value 11 measured with an image density output part 10 and information 12 of a one-dimensional position relation measured with an image signal reflectance detecting part 9 to an image evaluation operation processing part 13, a series of operation is executed there to the micro density value 11 and an image evaluation value expressing a physical quantity in the graininess of the image is provided. |
