A video enhancement system and a method thereof are provided to use one or more filters to filter a video signal received for generating a vertically filtered output, a horizontally filtered output, and a diagonally filtered output. One or more filters(12) receive a video signal, and filter the video signal to generate a vertically filtered output, a horizontally filtered output and a diagonally filtered output. One or more amplification components(14) apply separate gains to the vertically filtered output, the horizontally filtered output, and the diagonally filtered output to generate a vertical enhancement signal, a horizontal enhancement signal, and a diagonal enhancement signal. One or more than one adding components(16) combine the vertical enhancement signal, the horizontal enhancement signal, and the diagonal enhancement signal to the video signal to generate an enhanced video signal. |
