PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preliminarily reforming an oxigen-containing process gas such as natural gas, peak shaving gas, LPG. SOLUTION: The catalytic steam reforming method of a hydrocarbon material comprises a process for catalytically preliminary reforming the hydrocarbon material containing higher hydrocarbon and oxygen and steam reforming the preliminary reformed supply material, and the preliminary reforming stage is performed in the presence of a fixed bed catalyst at least partially containing a noble metal catalyst showing the activity to the oxidation of the hydrocarbon to the carbon oxide and the conversion of the higher hydrocarbon to methane. The noble metal catalyst is carried on a carrier of MgO and/or MgAl2O4 or spinel. |
