A safety critical process single channel bus (40) coupling procedure processes datasets using redundant protocol (14, 24) specific processing channels (1, 2) and combines them to a common secure protocol and buffer register (30) with write access to each register location given once only and all locations read to the bus. Independent claims are included for bus coupling equipment using the procedure.
