<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new profilaggrin/filaggrin production promoter, an epidermal keratinocyte proliferation promoter, a skin care preparation excellent in epidermis/horny cell layer normalization effects, a profilaggrin/filaggrin production-promoting method, and an epidermal keratinocyte proliferation-promoting method. <P>SOLUTION: The profilaggrin/filaggrin production promoter contains a Chloranthus japonicus extract as an active ingredient. The epidermal keratinocyte proliferation promoter also contains the Chloranthus japonicus extract as an active ingredient. The skin care preparation for normalizing epidermis/horny layer, contains the above agents.
