PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assay for detecting an early kidney disease of a dog in a companion animal. SOLUTION: This is a method for detecting the early kidney disease is composed of processes: (a) the process of acquiring a sample from the animal; and (b) the process of determine the albumin amount in the sample. The method for detecting the early kidney diseases shows that the range of the albumin amount 10μg/ml-300μg/ml indicates early kidney diseases when the specific weight of the sample is standardized to the 1.010 g/ml, wherein the animal is a cat, dog, horse, and cow or ox.
