PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor for measuring the Wobbe index of fuel. SOLUTION: The sensor 10 is provided with a substrate 12 and diaphragm layers 16. Each of the diaphragm layers 16 contains a first layer 18 which contains at least one heating element constructed for detecting the energy content in the fuel; the heating element contains doped polysilicon carbide arranged on the substrate 12, and the diaphragm layer 16 also contains a second layer 22 containing non-doped polysilicon carbide layer for preventing oxidation of the first layer 18. The sensor 10 is provided with detection layer 22 in which a catalyst is dispersed in the support structure. The sensor 10 is provided with a cavity formed under the diaphragm layer 16, and the cavity isolates the heating elements thermally. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
