PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a risk of rapture of a protection element when arc is generated due to an unpredictable factor.SOLUTION: A protection element comprises a conductor 54 and a case 12. The conductor 54 blows out when a Joule heat integrated value becomes higher than or equal to a prescribed value. The case 12 houses the conductor 54. At least a part of the case 12 is formed of a thermoplastic resin. If at least a part of the case 12 is formed of a thermoplastic resin, any part of the case 12 softens by the heat generated by electric conduction in the conductor 54. Any part of the case 12 softens, so energy of the arc generated when the conductor 54 blows out is spent for deformation of the softened part. The energy of the generated arc is spent for the deformation of the softened part, so a risk of rapture of the protection element when a large arc is generated due to an unpredictable factor is reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
