The present invention relates to a shock absorbing material for packaging a vehicle wheel, which is inserted into a packing box to surround the vehicle wheel and prevent damage to the vehicle wheel, and a method of manufacturing the same. More specifically, the method of manufacturing the shock absorbing material comprises the steps of: cutting a material made of a flexible synthetic resin or synthetic rubber so as to have an area wider than that of a packing box; placing the cut material on a wooden pattern and pressurizing the cut material with a press to mold a shock absorbing material having a rear protection portion protecting a rear surface of the vehicle wheel, a plurality of side protection portions protecting side surfaces of the vehicle wheel, and a plurality of guide holes formed at connection portions of the rear protection portion and the side protection portions; and carrying out the molded shock absorbing material from the wooden pattern. |
