A hauling device, and a method for retrieving a caught fish to a pier, are disclosed. The hauling device may comprise a guide, for guiding a line coupled to a fish and a person on a pier so that pulling of the line by the person causes an upward hauling of the fish; and a securing portion, for releasably securing the guide to a support of the pier. Advantageously, the hauling device enables the user to haul or lift captured fish from the water to an elevated position on the pier. By translating lateral pulling to upward hauling enables a person to use their entire body to lift the fish, instead of only their upper body. |
