Non-repeat pattern dyeing of tufted carpets is carried out with a roller immersed in liquor with the dye dripped over the fabric when guided by an undulated plate. Reciprocation of the plate or the roller ensures additional effects. The carpet may be coated with a rotary printer followed by steam fixing.
