PRODUCTION OF PHENYL ESTER AND PREPARATION OF CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous process for the production of a phenyl ester in high catalytic activity, selectivity and stability by the reaction of benzene with a carboxylic acid and molecular oxygen. SOLUTION: The phenyl ester is produced by reacting benzene with a carboxylic acid and molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst containing supported metallic palladium and metallic tellurium. The catalyst is produced by supporting the catalyst components on a carrier and washing with a basic solution.
