PURPOSE:To adjust the amount of water absorbed in polished rice to the optimum level to obtain delicious cooked rice, by washing the polished rice with water, and repeating the steps comprising water-absorption at rest and scattering under falling. CONSTITUTION:Polished rice sent from a washing apparatus through a pipe 7 is dropped on the openable shelf 2 at the top of the water-absorption apparatus 1. After being left at rest for a definite time interval, the polished rice completed its first water-absoption step is dropped to the second-step openable shelf 3. Similar steps are repeated on the openable shelves 3 and 4, and the polished rice having a proper water-content is taken out through the hopper 9. The polished and washed rice should be subjected to at least one cycle of water-absorption and scattering during the first expansion period, and at least additional one cycle during the second expansion period. |
