In a rotary mower equipped, for example, with two mowing drums (3), a throwing star (9, 10, 11, 12), consisting of a large rolling bearing (9, 10), arms (12) and downwardly directed tines (11) and having an oblique axis, is so arranged around each mowing drum (3) in a manner enveloping the casing (5) of the drums (3) that the tines (11) engage into the stream of the cut-off mown material and accelerate the mown material and throw it against baffle elements (24) in a catching hood (21).
