PURPOSE:To improve the temperature characteristic by constituting the titled optical isolator so that the first optical isolator whose polarized wave direction rotates by 45 deg. against the use wavelength, and the second optical isolator can be cascaded and placed by shifting the polarized wave direction to each other. CONSTITUTION:As for the optical isolator, the first optical isolator 19 constituted of a polarizer 10, an analyzer 11, a permanent magnet 9, and a magneto- optical element 12 having a Faraday rotational angle of 45 deg. by the wavelength lambda0, and the second optical isolator 20 constituted of a magneto-optical element 16 having a Faraday rotational angle of 45 deg. by the wavelength lambda0, and a polarizer 14, an analyzer 15, and a permanent magnet 13 are cascaded and placed. In this case, the polarization plane of the analyzer 11 of the first optical isolator, and the polarization plane of the polarizer 14 of the second optical isolator are shifted by about several degrees and placed. In such a way, the optical isolator having a good temperature characteristic of isolation is obtained.
