<p>PURPOSE: To easily conduct a test for sealability independently of the reminder of a pipe by fitting over the end of the pipe a collar having an interior wall forming a sleeve, connecting the collar to the pipe, and clamping the circumferential part of the lining against the adjacent interior wall of the collar. CONSTITUTION: To use a fitting, a first portion 3 of a collar 1 is fitted over a pipe portion 5 until the external wall 4 of the pipe portion 5 is engaged with a step 9. The cylindrical main body 20 of a member 2 is inserted into the portion 8 of a lining 6. A gasket 24 is arranged around the external wall of the main body 20 and compressed between flanges 11, 21 during use. The flanges 11, 21 are attached to the flange 15 of a pipe 16 by a nut-bolt assembly 14. Then the lining portion 8 is compressed between the main body 20 and the second portion 7 of the collar 1 to form a seal between the collar 1 and the lining 6. At the same time, the gaskets 24, 25 are compressed between the flanges 21, 15; 24, 25 to form seals.</p> |
