PURPOSE: To provide a shift control for a power transmission, maintaining the difference between shift modes and imparting pressure adaptive adjustment to the appropriate shift mode. CONSTITUTION: The duration of a shift for which a control unit 270 is selected is measured and this measurement is compared with an expected duration which will occur while the shift progresses. The deviation, if any, is used to develop an adaptive correction amount, which is applied to shift mode dependent tables. In the normal mode, pressure is determined in accordance with a pressure command from a predetermined pressure schedule adjusted by a normal mode correction table. In a performance mode, the pressure command from the predetermined schedule is determined by adaptive correction amounts from both the normal mode correction table and the performance mode correction table. The performance mode correction table is initialized at a minimum value which maintains at least a minimum pressure difference between the normal mode and the performance mode. |
