PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing p,p'-biphenol markedly improved in hue when put into the form of a solvent solution. SOLUTION: This method for producing p,p'-biphenol comprises debutylating a 4,4'-biphenol compound having at least one tert-butyl group in the presence of a debutylating catalyst; wherein at least one compound selected from thiosulfates, sulfites and metal borohydrides is made to act on the crude p,p'- biphenol resulted from the debutylation reaction, or made to coexist in the process of the debutylation reaction. |
