PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium of phase changing type, inexpensive and of high performance, not requiring the initialization process before use. SOLUTION: An optical recording medium is provided with a recording layer 1 of phase changing type composed of Ge, Sb and Te as main components, and when atom composition ratio [Ge]/[Sb] is defined as (x) and the crystal particle diameter of the recording layer 1 is defined as R (nm), the crystal particles of 80% or more constituting the recording layer 1 are in the range of the particle diameter represented by the following formula (7.5x+0.6)<=R<=(55x+30), and the recording layer 1 before recording is in the non-crystalline state, and the non-crystalline state before recording contains the fine crystal cores of 0.5-10 nm particle diameter. |
