PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a group 8 noble metal and/or an organic phosphite compound from a catalyst liquid extracted from a reaction system in a catalytic activity-retaining state in a hydroformylation reaction using a catalyst comprising a group 8 noble metal complex containing the organic phosphite compound as a ligand. SOLUTION: This method for recovering a group 8 noble metal and/or an organic phosphite compound comprises mixing a catalyst liquid with an organic solvent such as methanol or the organic solvent and water, crystallizing the group 8 noble metal and/or the organic phosphite compound from the mixture liquid, and then recovering the crystals by a filtration method.
