METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MUSICAL TONE GENERATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To place a software sound source in stable operation. SOLUTION: To calculate and generate a musical tone waveform sample by software, a MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) process routine (S10) which converts an inputted MIDI event into sound source control data and a waveform generating process routine (S20) which calculates and generates a musical tone waveform sample of one frame are provided in a virtual device driver routine in an OS. Then the said MIDI process routine is actuated by a software interruption initiated when the MIDI event is generated by an application such as sequencer software and the said waveform generating process routine is actuated by a hardware interruption initiated when the reproduction of a musical tone of one frame ends.
