<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element bright in brightness, high in contrast and capable of preventing the deterioration of a refraction lens effect and a diffraction grating effect by a spacer buy specifying the relation between a counter gap of substrates and a minimum width of a slit of a stripe like electrode and providing columnar spacers so as to hold this counter gap. SOLUTION: At least one side of a pair of pixel electrode 14 and counter electrode 13 holding a liquid crystal layer therebetween and forming a pixel is provided with an electrode consisting of conductors to be periodically arranged. At this time, the pixel electrode 14 and the counter electrode 13 are provided with the structure that a conductor part 13a and a slit like non-conductor part 13b are arranged in the stripe shape. Then, when the distance between the first, second substrates is defined as D, the minimum width S of the periodically arranged slit like non-conductor part 13b of the pixel electrode 14 and counter electrode 13 is larger than 2Dtan(π/9), and further, the columnar spacers 1 are formed on the first substrate or the second substrate so as to hold the distance D.</p> |
