PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for synthesizing pictures in which pictures can be synthesized so that any joint can not be conspicuous even when the exposing conditions of plural inputted pictures are different from each other. SOLUTION: Sample data for gradation correction are generated by using a picture synthesis parameter set by a parameter estimating part 40 based on the result of corresponding point extraction with high precision obtained by removing an erroneous corresponding part in the area in which the same subject is image picked-up of the mutually overlapped part of pictures (a) and (b) inputted from input terminals 10a and 10b (step 11). The gradation correction coefficient of the picture (a) is calculated based on the mean value of the pertinent sample data (step 12), the gradation correction coefficient of the picture (b) is calculated based on the sample data of the picture (a) which is gradation- corrected by using the gradation correction coefficient (step 13), and the pictures (a) and (b) are corrected by using each gradation correction coefficient calculated by the steps S12 and S13. Then, the picture synthesis of those gradation- corrected pictures (a) and (b) is operated by a picture converting and synthesizing part 50. |
