PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer the toner image of high image quality by improving the cleaning effect of toner powder and foreign matter which remain or stick on an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: A paper separating AC discharge unit 14h capable of applying at least AC voltage is used at a discharger provided as a separating means for separating recording paper where the toner image is transferred from a toner image receiving body 14a, and efficient cleaning operation is performed by the discharge (ON) of unnecessary toner and the pressure-contact (ON) of a cleaning device 14i until and after the toner image transferred reaches the toner image receiving body 14a and the toner image on the toner image receiving body 14a is held by interrupting (OFF) both the discharge of the paper separating AC discharge unit 14h and the pressure-contact of the cleaning device 14i while the toner image passes. |
