PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a card to be set to a unit for function expansion from being stolen, in separate type function expanding device of portable electronic device composed of a base unit and an option unit for function expansion installed separably. SOLUTION: In the separate type function expanding device of portable electronic device, the base unit for placing a notebook type personal computer and the unit for the function expansion of portable electronic equipment for housing a member for the expanding function of portable electronic equipment and attaching the base unit on its upper end face are installed separably. In this case, when the base unit is attached to the function expanding unit, a shutter drive operating part is provided at a position to be covered by the base unit, and a shutter driving means is provided for moving a shutter board 38a for inhibiting the IN/OUT of the card from inserting ports 36a and 36b of a card loading part while being interlocked with this shutter drive operating part.
