The invention refers to a series resonant inverter designed to supply a single phase load with up to 30 KHz frequency and up to 5 kW variable power. The inverter comprises an oscillating circuit [L2, C], a bidirectional switch [S2] being placed in the inductive part of the oscillating circuit, the load being connected in series with the coil [L2] of the oscillating circuit, the oscillating circuit [L2, C] being supplied from a Vdc source by a unidirectional switch [S1], this unidirectional switch being connected to the Vdc source by a switch coil [L1].
