<p>An interstitial prostatism model animal and a method of screening a substance efficacious in preventing/treating human prostatism with the use of the same. The interstitial prostatism model animal is constructed by subcutaneously or subcapsularly transplanting the fetal urogenital cavity of a nonhuman animal into the same or different nonhuman animal. A substance efficacious in preventing/treating human prostatism is screened by administering a test substance to the model animal and calibrating the preventing or ameliorating effect of the test substance on the transplanted tissue (i.e., the fetal urogenital cavity or a tissue originating therein).</p> |
