PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable exact main exposure and to exactly perform the main exposure even when a photographic mode is changed in an image pickup device which has an image pickup element and performs auxiliary exposure for exposure control. SOLUTION: A subject is formed through a lens 2 and a diaphragm 3 to a solid-state image pickup element 4 and converted into an electric signal and prescribed signal processing is executed by a signal processing part 7. Besides, at the time of photographing, the 1st light emission of auxiliary exposure and the 2nd light emission of main exposure are performed while controlling a stroboscope (flash) generating part 15 through a control/operation part 9, and based on photometric information obtained by the 1st light emission, the 2nd light emission is appropriately controlled. In this case, the shutter speed of electronic shutter in the 1st light emission is determined synchronously with the light emitting time of the 1st light emission. |
