<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently generate a timer concerning timer generation corresponding to a plurality of timer requests, etc., to be required for the task processing of a CPU. <P>SOLUTION: A timer device includes: count setting parts (registers 20, 22) for presetting a timer value to be set when counting is terminated with respect to a counter (a down counter 24) which counts down/up the elapse of time. Then a timer operation is started or changed-over even when a response is not rapidly performed in a CPU. With the configuration, a CPU clock can be operated at a low speed to decrease current consumption.
