The invention relates to a method for producing a composite plastic moulded part consisting of at least one layer of a sheet material and a plastic body, using an injection moulding tool. According to this method, the sheet material is placed in the injection moulding tool and deformed as the tool is closed. Negative pressure is then applied to one side of the sheet material or excess pressure is applied to its other side, so that the sheet material comes to rest on a mould half. Plastic material is then introduced into the opening injection moulding tool in such a way that the incoming flow rate of the plastic material and the opening speed of the injection moulding tool are co-ordinated with each other. Once a certain opening gap has been reached, the mould is closed and the plastic moulded part is embossed. The inventive method enables greater embossment distances to be achieved in vertical and horizontal machines.
