A head slider and a recording medium driving device are provided to maintain stability of the head slider by finely regulating the floating height, pitch angle, and roll angle of the head slider. A head slider comprises a slider body(31), a front rail(37), a front air bearing surface(41a,41b), a rear rail(38), a back air bearing surface(46), a head element(33), and recesses(57a,57b). The front rail is defined on a floating surface at the inflow end of the slider body. The front air bearing surface is defined on the top of the front rail. The rear rail is defined on a floating surface at the outflow end of the slider body. The back air bearing surface is defined on the top of the rear rail. The head element is embedded in the rear rail. The recesses are formed at the outflow end of the front air bearing surface.
