<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need to detect starting current values of a plurality of electric motors by actualizing stable starting load balancing among the respective electric motors without increasing the capacity of a power supply. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus having a plurality of electrophotographic type imaging units disposed along a belt surface of a transfer belt comprises: a first motor 21 which drives a fixing unit 17; a second motor 22 driving an imaging unit 4k and the transfer belt 3; a third motor 23 driving other imaging units 4m, 4c, and 4y; toner remaining amount detecting means 39 of developing means 7 of the imaging units driven by the second and third motors; a setting means 38 of determining starting delay times T2 and T3 which are long when the remaining amount of toner is large; and a start control means 38 of performing control such that a motor started after the second motor is started is started T2 after the start of the second motor and a motor started after the third motor is started is started T3 after the start of the third motor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
