A trap for animals like rats and snakes is described. It comprises a house with an entrance, with a hit mechanism arranged to hit the animal when the animal releases a release element. The hit arm (1) is arranged to be prestressed at one end against a spring means (3) to a first position, releasably locked by a lock means (4). This is arranged to release the hit arm (1), hitting to a second position when the release element (5) is activated by the animal by its movement in the direction from the entrance.
