<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which has excellent life characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a cathode having a compound as a cathode active substance as shown in a general formula LixFe1-yMyPO4 (wherein M is at least one kind or more selected from a group composed of Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Al, Sn, B, Ga, Cr, V, Ti, Mg, Ca, Sr and 0.9<x<1.2, 0≤y<0.3) and an anode containing lithium metal, lithium alloy or a material which can dope/dedope lithium, and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution.
