PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency in the removal of cut-offs 15 remaining on a seating face 14 in a nuclear reactor 2 after detaching a jet pump riser pipe 11 in it or the work for flattening the seating face 14. SOLUTION: The distance to the seating face 14 is made shorter than that in the installation of a finishing device in a shroud support plate 21, a control rod drive mechanism housing 22 and the like by detaching the jet pump riser pipe 11 with a jet pump diffuser 31 left in place, using it as the supporting member to install the finishing device for the removal of the cut-offs 15 or the work for flattening the seating face 14 and then detaching the jet pump diffuser 31 after the completion of the removal of the cut-offs 15 or the work for flattening the seating face 14.
